Terms of Service
Last updated: March 3, 2026
What PermitAlert does
PermitAlert is a notification service that monitors permit availability on recreation.gov and sends you an SMS alert when a date you're watching becomes available. We check availability on your behalf and notify you — the rest is up to you.
No affiliation with recreation.gov
PermitAlert is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way connected to recreation.gov, the U.S. National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, or any other government agency. All permit bookings are made directly on recreation.gov. We simply monitor publicly available availability data on your behalf.
Subscription terms
SMS alerts require a Pro subscription at $4.99/month. Subscriptions are billed monthly on a recurring basis and begin on the date you subscribe.
- ·You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Stripe billing portal
- ·Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain Pro access until then
- ·Payments are processed securely by Stripe
Refund policy
We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel your subscription, you will continue to receive Pro features until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you will not be charged again.
If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at permitalertapp@gmail.com and we'll review it.
No guarantee of availability
PermitAlert monitors permit availability and delivers alerts, but we cannot guarantee:
- ·That a permit will be available when you attempt to book after receiving an alert
- ·The accuracy or completeness of availability data obtained from recreation.gov
- ·Uninterrupted, error-free operation of the service
- ·Alert delivery within any specific timeframe
Permits can be claimed by other users in the seconds between an alert being sent and you attempting to book. PermitAlert is not responsible for any missed permits.
User responsibilities
By using PermitAlert, you agree to:
- ·Provide accurate contact information (phone number and email)
- ·Use the service only for personal, non-commercial permit monitoring
- ·Not attempt to abuse, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service
- ·Comply with recreation.gov's own terms of service when booking permits
To stop receiving SMS alerts at any time, reply STOP to any alert message.
Limitation of liability
PermitAlert is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of PermitAlert after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
