Watchman Campground (Zion NP)

About This Permit

Watchman Campground occupies the canyon floor at Zion's South Entrance — walking distance to the shuttle stop, visitor center, and the Virgin River. The only campground in Zion NP with hookup sites and the most accessible, making it the most competitive. Year-round access and mild winter camping make Watchman a four-season destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Watchman Campground require a separate park entry reservation?
No timed entry permits are currently required for Zion National Park. The Zion Canyon shuttle operates March–November and is the primary way to access canyon trailheads — private vehicles are restricted in the canyon during shuttle season. Your campsite reservation covers park entry.
Which Watchman sites have hookups?
A limited number of sites have 30-amp electrical hookups, bookable directly on recreation.gov. These are among the most competitive sites in the campground. No water or sewer hookups; a dump station is on-site.
Can I walk to Zion trailheads from Watchman?
Yes — the campground is adjacent to the shuttle stop, which accesses all major canyon trailheads including Angels Landing, The Narrows (bottom-up), and Emerald Pools. The Pa'rus Trail is a paved bike/pedestrian path from the campground upstream into the canyon.
