Rogue River Wild Section

About This Permit

Oregon's Rogue River Wild Section runs 40 miles from Grave Creek to Foster Bar through a protected Wild & Scenic corridor with Class III–IV whitewater, remote riverside lodges, and abundant wildlife. One of the premier multi-day river trips in the Pacific Northwest.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Rogue River Wild Section permit lottery work?
Apply December 1 – January 31 on recreation.gov for the May 15 – October 15 control season. Results are announced February 1–15. One application is allowed per person per calendar year. Applications that do not win the lottery are not charged the full permit fee.
Can I float the Rogue River without a permit?
October 16 through May 14, a free self-issue permit is available with no lottery and no quota. Off-season flows can be excellent for experienced paddlers who prefer solitude.
Are there lodges on the Rogue River Wild Section?
Yes. Several historic river lodges (including Marial Lodge and Paradise Lodge) accept overnight guests on the Rogue Wild Section — an option for those who want riverside comfort without camping gear.
