The Middle Fork of the Flathead forms the southern boundary of Glacier National Park, flowing 47 miles through the Great Bear Wilderness from the Continental Divide to West Glacier. The lower section (West Glacier) is Class II–III and manageable for competent intermediate paddlers with river rescue skills. Upper canyon sections are more technical and remote, requiring expert skills and significant logistics.
