Why I built this.
I grew up in Montana. The outdoors was never a hobby. It was just how I understood the world.
A few years back I went through a rough stretch and the backcountry was the thing that kept me sane. But I kept missing permits by minutes, refreshing Recreation.gov like it was a part time job. River floats were the worst. Most alert tools don't even cover them.
So when a ski accident put me out of commission for a while, I built the tool I wished existed. PermitAlert monitors cancellations every 60 seconds across wilderness, river and campground permits and text you when something opens up.
